What Do You Do When Life Grows Confused?

Do you ever wish God would just give you a road map for your life?  Have you ever had those times that you’ve thought, “God I’m happy to do what you want but frankly I don’t have a clue?”

I have, way too many times.  I’ve felt so lost just touching the edge of any road would’ve felt like a victory.

So what do you do when you’ve tried everything and you’re still poking around in the fog as lost as ever?

I’ve found, in those times, it helps to just rest in the promise that I may be careening from pot hole to pot hole but God still sees the road clearly.

He promises, “He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.”

I love that!  Not after I’ve accomplished five more steps but unconditionally now when I walk with God he walks with me.  He has the map and sees the road.

So you can settle down on the bus.  You may not be able to see the road but the driver can.  And he promises to get you to your destination.

So get on, put on your headphones and relax.  The road may be foggy but you’ll arrive safely.

How to Discover Supernatural Guidance When You Need it Most

We all face times when we could use a little supernatural guidance don’t we?

We get slammed.  A pink slip in our pay envelope telling us, “Your services are no longer needed.”  A spouse says, “I’m moving out.”  The doctor tells you, “I’d like to run some more tests.”

Suddenly our world spins out of control and we could really use some answers.

So what do we normally do?

We discuss it with our next door neighbor, barber, brother, bartender.  Yet, often when you look at their lives they don’t have life wired up all that much better do they? [Read more…]

Understanding God’s Mysteries to See His Miracles

We all get slammed by circumstances that catch us totally off guard and turn our lives upside down don’t we? Suddenly we’re struggling trying to find a way out of the quagmire yet often feel we’re only digging in deeper.

Encouragingly though, God offers to bring light into that darkness and clarity into the fog.

Jesus promised, “Many prophets and righteous men longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.”*

See, God sent his Spirit, after Jesus ascended to Heaven, to open up to us his secrets. And that same Spirit unleashes the power of God in our lives.

So what possible challenge could we face that’s beyond that?

Now, he may not answer always in the way we ask. But he promises to answer in his perfect love.

We can hear and sense God’s leading. And he’ll unlock the mysteries of living effectively in a relationship with him.

Pretty astounding promises when you think about it.

So why don’t we see and hear like this more often?

Maybe the question really should be, why don’t we stop more often long enough to look and listen?

How to Tune Into God’s Leading

After two years of continuously writing this blog I was spent. I was running on empty. I struggled to keep posting.

So I decided to step back for a while. Listen to my heart and try to find God’s leading.

Instead of writing I prayed and asked questions.

Is this really where God wants me?

Is this the most productive use of my time?

Do I still feel called?

Is there a more effective way?

Then I wrote, not to my readers but to myself.

Day after day I jotted down answers and additional questions. I listened to my inner nudgings and researched.

A couple of times I got antsy and wanted to start writing the blog again. But I knew I just wasn’t ready.

Frankly, I don’t like delay. I’m a type A personality so waiting isn’t exactly my strong suit.

Seven weeks went by, wow. Yet, I felt God’s leading and sensed his presence. Frankly, it was a pretty cool time.

I experienced what Jesus hinted, “Blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.”*

When we stop to look we’ll see and when we choose to listen we’ll hear.

Though, to be honest, sometimes I still have trouble remembering that.
