“I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.” (Ephesians 1: 19-20 NLT)
All of us at times face seemingly unsolvable problems. Tough nuts that just won’t crack.
Our careers careen off track.
Our marriages stress out?
We struggle with health issues we just can’t resolve.
And money? Or sometimes what’s left of it?
So we go to church and they talk and sing about God’s power. And we leave thinking, “What? Is it just me? Hello God, I’m still here too.”
Frustrating and at times terrifying.
Yet, I’ve also learned the hard way when I’m scared nothing positive happens. The solutions stay illusive. And in fact often the problems seem like rabbits multiplying.
So what’s the answer?
This passage gives a different perspective. A change of focus.
It says God wants to unleash his unimaginable power to solve our most unsolvable problems. Simply by believing in him to do it.
I know I know that’s way too simplistic.
So believe what? Focus on what?
That God will unleash his power to change our lives. He has unlimited power he wants to use to solve our challenges and help us live the kind of life he designed for us.
That he will use the same unimaginable power he used when he raised Jesus from the dead. And if he loved us that much doesn’t he love us enough to use that power for our problems now?
And then believing that Jesus who promised he would never leave us alone is seated at the place of power in Heaven. And he promises to use his power on our behalf whatever our needs.
Now that’s the kind of power I want to see.
What about you?
