Part of the series “God Rocks: 101 Amazing Everyday Gifts!” Stories and promises of the awesome blessings God gives us each day. I hope it encourages you today!
Have you ever come simply to the end of yourself in the midst of a crisis? Maybe you’re there right now.
Perhaps your marriage is struggling. Or your finances have imploded. Or your health isn’t.
You’ve tried everything. You’ve gone through counseling. You’ve read books. You’ve taken the treatments. But nothing works. And you don’t know what else to do. And you can’t see the way forward.
So here you are at the end of yourself feeling defeated and frustrated and hopeless.
I’ve been there too–several times.
Yet, one of Jesus’ most powerful promises is just for you.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5: 3 NIV)
Poor in spirit is exactly what we’ve been looking at. When we’re at the end of ourselves.
And Jesus says when you get to that place, “You’ll be happy. Because now I can unveil the full power and blessings of my kingdom to you.”
In other words when we’ve come to a place where we realize all our power and ideas are just not enough it’s then we look to God for his.
And this is true for believers as well as for those who are still searching. When in the storm we turn and say, “Lord I need your power.” And then we expect him to unleash it.
Then all the power of God’s kingdom becomes ours. And it’s not just a future gift. He says, “Theirs is the kingdom.” Now in all it’s power.
Oh, and it’s available to us for all eternity as well.
So let me ask you again. What are you facing today that seems unconquerable? What struggle have you wrestled with for so long that you’re just worn out? What crisis are you in that you just can’t handle any longer?
The good news is the kingdom of God is yours this moment.
All of God’s power is working on your behalf even as you read this.
God will give you all the knowledge you need to find your way through to the other side of this crisis.
God loves you and you can never be outside of his love.
When we come to the end of our power we stand at the threshold of God’s.
When have you seen God work in your life when you have come to the end of yourself?
