You Are Chosen for Greatness

“It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.” (Ephesians 1: 11-12 MSG)

Do you ever feel just beat down and beat up?  You look around at others who seem so much more successful and wish you were them?  You get discouraged and wonder if you’ll ever succeed and truly make a difference?

It seems like our world is set up to keep us down.  Throughout our lives the message from our teachers, parents, families, bosses, government so often is, “You’re one of the masses.  Stay in order.  Color inside the lines.  Come to work, do your job and don’t make waves.  Do what you’re asked we don’t need your input. Unlocking The Confusion

“He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him.”  (Ephesians 1:9 NAS)

I don’t know about you but I find life pretty baffling at times.  Whether trying to make my marriage work, raising kids, my career, health, this blog.  Frankly there are a lot times I just don’t get it.

I look around at other people who seem to have it so much more together.  And I think, “What’s wrong with me?  They seem so much further ahead.” [Read more…]

Set Free!

“In Christ we are set free by the blood of his death, and so we have forgiveness of sins. How rich is God’s grace.”  (Ephesians 1:7  NCV)

As a pastor I counseled those struggling with self destructive behavior that threatened to destroy their lives and the lives of those that loved them.

Yet, I also realize we all struggle at times with our own self destructive behaviors.  It may not be drug addiction or alcoholism, though it could.  But what about workaholism, dysfunctional ways of relating to people, destructive emotional responses? [Read more…]

Unleashing Unlimited Power

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In Christ, God has given us every spiritual blessing in the heavenly world.”  (Ephesians 1: 3  (NCV)

We face seemingly overwhelming problems.  Society is tearing apart.  Crime rising, divorce becoming  the norm, political corruption rampant and that on top of all the problems each of us face in our own lives. [Read more…]

“Success Consists of Going From Failure to Failure Without Loss of Enthusiasm”

A great quote from Winston Churchill.

Do you have a good quote on success?  Please share it in the comments.

“We Do Not Learn So Much By Our Successes”

“We do not learn so much by our successes as we learn by failures—our own and others’. Especially if we see the failures properly corrected.”

— Frank Lloyd Wright

The Anatomy of a Successful Launch: Overcoming the Insurmountable

When I stopped writing my previous blog, because of other commitments, I was frustrated.

Yet, as other commitments encroached I tried to shoehorn it in for a while.   But the quality and joy diminished.

So one afternoon, driving home from work, I prayed, “God that’s it.  I can’t do this any longer.”

I felt like something had died inside of me.  Emptiness clawed at my soul. [Read more…]
