Prospering in the Droughts

“The one who meditates on God’s word will not wither in the drought but will prosper in everything he does.”  (Psalm 1: 3)

You may face droughts in life but God’s life giving water will renew you.

Father,

Thank you, that when I walk through the droughts,

You pour out your refreshing streams of water within me,

Prospering me by your power and love.

   When I’m in the droughts,

Help me to look to your promises,

      Refresh in your living water,

And live in the prosperity you give.

Amen

The Secret of a Fruitful Life

“The person who meditates on God’s promises is a like a beautiful and fruitful tree.”  (Psalm 1: 3)

You may not be the most gifted but you can be the most fruitful.

Father,

Sometimes I feel like others are so much more gifted.

Yet, in your power, I know none need be more fruitful.

Help me to not compare myself to others.

Instead, content in who you created me to be.

Filled with your power and all of your fruitfulness.

Amen

Rejoicing in the Midst of Struggles

“Blessed is the person . . . who delights in God’s promises.”  (Psalm 1: 1-2)

God’s promises delight because they show us what can be rather than only what is.

Lord,

When I’m feeling overwhelmed with challenges,

your promises fill me with joy,

they show me life as you promise rather than as it is.

Help me to focus on you and your promises,

seeing clearly through eyes of faith,

the blessings you offer and are filling my life.

Amen

The Cure for Every Fear

“I prayed to God and he answered me; he delivered me from all of my fears.” (Psalm 34:4)

We may have much to fear, God gives us every reason not too.

Lord,

I thank you that even though I have many things to fear,

you have promises that overcome every one.

In the midst of the darkness of fear,

help me to see the light of your promises,

and walk in the dawn of your fulfillment.

Amen

Everything Will Work Together for Good

“All things work together for good for those who love God and walk in a relationship with him.”  (Romans 8:28)

Bad things may happen to good people, God delights in turning them into good.

Father,

Sometimes bad things happen,

yet in your love you turn them into good.

When I’m stung by pain,

help me to focus on your promise,

and surprise me with your good.

Amen

Answers for Every Need

“Your Heavenly Father already knows everything you need.  So seek first God’s kingdom and relationship, and he will give you everything you need.” (Matthew 6:32-33)

You may have overwhelming needs.  None are beyond God’s knowledge or promise to fulfill.

Father,

I praise you that no matter how great my needs,

   you already know them,

   and delight in fulfilling them.

Help me to rest in your promise,

  expect your answers,

  and experience your amazing power.

Amen

Love That is Greater Than Every Need

“If God gave us his son, won’t he liberally give us everything else we need?” (Romans 8:32)

Our needs may be great, but God’s gifts of love are even greater.

Father,

My needs sometimes seem overwhelming,

yet, I know your gifts of love are greater still.

Help me when feeling overwhelmed,

to focus on your love more than my need,

to rest in your promises rather than my problems,

to see your gifts as they fill up my emptiness.

Amen

Answers to All Your Prayers

“If you abide in me and my words abide in you ask whatever you wish and it will be done for you.” (John 15:7)

When God and his word live in you, what you ask will be his pleasure.

Father,

Sometimes I get confused about what to ask,

Yet, in you and your word my prayers become your promise.

Help me to remember your words when I’m lost,

To pray your words when I’m confused,

To see your words fulfilled because I asked.

Amen

You Can Have Blessings upon Blessings

“Out of the fullness of his grace, God has blessed us, giving us blessing upon blessing.” (John 1:16)

Not because we deserve, only because God gives blessing upon blessing.

Father,

   I fall short constantly,

yet, in your grace you bless continually,

      blessing upon blessing.

Help me to get up and try again,

      relaxed confident in your grace,

and in your blessings upon blessings.

Amen

The Secret to Contentment

“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall want for nothing.” (Psalm 23: 1)

You may wish for much, your shepherd provides so you’ll want for nothing.

Lord,

Thank you for all you have provided.  For fulfilling many wishes and all of my needs.

I will rest from striving in you.  Expecting you to fill up my needs.  Knowing I’ll want for nothing.

Amen
