Finding God and Seeing His Promises

“The one who keeps on seeking will find.”  (Matthew 7: 8)

Father,

When I searched for you I found you’d been with me all along,

And as I seek to know you more you reveal your mysteries to me.

Help me to know you and your truths more fully,

And to expect your presence and promises more completely.

Amen

Receiving What You Desire

“Everyone who asks receives.”  (Matthew 7: 8)

Father,

Thank you that when I’ve asked you’ve generously given,

Sometimes different than what I’ve asked but always what I truly desire.

So I keep on asking for all I want,

And trusting you to give me what I truly desire.

Amen

Ask and Receive

“Keep on asking and you will receive.”  (Matthew 7: 7)

Father,

Thank you for always giving me everything I need,

Though not always everything in the way I’ve asked.

You know the desires of my heart and I trust the pureness of your love,

To give me always your perfect blessings even when not what I asked.

Amen

Confidence Instead of Worry

“So don’t worry about clothes and food and drink.  Unbelievers obsess over these things.  Instead relax trusting that your heavenly Father knows exactly what you need.” (Matthew 6: 31-32)

Father,

I’ve spent far too many times worrying instead of trusting,

And yet I’ve watched as you provided for me even when I doubted.

Replace my doubts with faith and my worry with confidence,

Let me see clearly your provision for what I need most urgently.

Amen

The Cure for Worry

“Look at the birds, they don’t plant or harvest or store up crops, for your Father feeds them.  Aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?” (Matthew 6: 26)

Father,

When I start to worry then I remember how you care for even birds,

And how much more valuable I am to you than they are.

Fill me with confidence in your care which brings peace,

And the expectation of it which opens my eyes to see it.

Amen

Rewards and Blessings

“Your Father who sees what you privately do out of devotion to him will reward you.” (Matthew 6: 18)

Father,

You have rewarded me well, blessed me beyond my dreams,

And what I give in secret to you, you multiply in blessings back to me.

Help me to expect your blessings which encourages me to give freely.

And reward me with your blessings that are multiples of what I give.

Amen

Praying and Receiving What You Truly Need

“When you pray don’t babble on and on. . . . instead just pray simply, for your Father knows what you need before you even ask him.”  (Matthew 6: 7-8)

Father,

Thank you that sometimes you’ve answered my prayers by not giving what I’ve asked,

And instead giving me what you know I truly need.

Help me to pray simply for what I want,

And expect boldly that you’ll give me what I truly need.

Amen

The Secret to Effective Prayer

“When you pray, find a secluded place and pray to your Father in private.  Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret will reward you.”  (Matthew 6: 6)

Father,

How you love to hear my prayers and how I love your presence when praying,

And how you love to answer my secret prayers with your open blessings.

Help me to learn to pray quickly and to anticipate your answers fully,

And answer my secret prayers with abundant rewards.

Amen

Seeing God

“Blessed are those whose hearts have been made pure for they will see God.”  (Matthew 5: 8)

Father,

Thank you that no matter my sins you forgive and make me pure.

And in that purity then I can see you.

Forgive my failures, purify me by your grace,

And let me see you in all your glory.

Amen

Receiving All God’s Promises

“Blessed are the humble, for they will inherit the whole earth.”  (Matthew 5: 5)

Father,

Thank you that when I am powerless you show yourself most  powerful,

And when I am weakest you give me everything I could never give myself.

Give me your promises, bless me with your blessings.

Fill me with your confidence, help me to expect your unimaginable.

Amen
