Living in God’s Kingdom

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for they receive the kingdom of heaven.”  (Matthew 5: 3)

Father,

Thank you that when I am down you lift me up,

And when I feel worthless you show me your kingdom.

Let me live in your kingdom though I can never deserve it.

And fill me with your confidence though I can never create it.

Amen

Salvation is Completed

“They will declare to future generations how the Lord saved his people.  He finished it.”  (Psalm 22: 31)

Lord,

Thank you that in your grace alone I am saved,

And by your act of supreme love, as you proclaimed, it is finished.

Save me by your power, accept me by your grace.

And fill me with confidence in your promise that truly it is finished.

Amen

Eternal Life of Joy

“The rich and powerful will worship the Lord, those who are mortal will bow before him.”  (Psalm 22: 29)

Lord,

You are my lord, the one who is all powerful,

The one who saves me, the one who protects me, the one who blesses me.

Save me in your grace, give me life in your love,

Fill me wonder in your majesty, and joy in your presence.

Amen

Needs Fulfilled, Joy Infused

“The poor will eat until they are full; those who seek the Lord will praise him now and rejoice forever.”  (Psalm 22: 26)

Lord,

I praise you that when I’ve been most needy you have been most generous.

And I praise you that you fill me with joy both now and forever.

Meet me in my need, feed me until I’m full,

Fill me with your joy for today and forever.

Amen

Abundant Life That Lasts Forever

“Lord, I asked you for life and you gave it, a long life and one that lasts forever.” (Psalm 21: 4)

Father,

Thank you that when I asked you for your abundant life you gave it,

Plus a long life that I know will last forever with you.

Give me your life, fill me with your abundance, bless me with many years.

And give me confidence that life goes on forever and joy in anticipating it.

Amen

Death Has No Power

“You will not abandon me to the realm of the dead or leave me to lie in the grave.”  (Psalm 16: 10)

Father,

Thank you for your promise of life forever with you and the peace it brings,

I look forward to that day when I see you face to face and rejoice again with those I love.

When I doubt fill me with confidence, when I mourn fill me with peace,

Adopt me as your child so I may live with you and those I love forever.

Amen

Life That Extends on Forever

“The Lord is king forever and ever.” (Psalm 10:16)

This life may end but God’s kingdom never does.

Lord,

Thank you that as your child I need not fear death,

But instead rest in your promise that I’ll overcome it and live with you forever.

Forgive me for trying to give myself the life only you can give,

Give me that life with you that will never end,

Help me to live every day in the confidence your best is yet to come.

Amen

All Creation is Yours to Enjoy

“Lord, you have made us rulers over all the works of your creation and given us the charge to rule them wisely.” (Psalm 8: 6)

God has given us all of his creation to enjoy and to rule wisely.

Father,

Thank you for the beauty and wonder of your creation,

That reminds me of your greatness and love.

Help me to rule it with wisdom,

Be reminded of your awesome power,

And be filled with the comfort of your love.

Amen

The Reminder of God’s Greatness and Love

“When I look at the heavens, moon and stars, which you created, I am amazed that you know and care for me.” (Psalm 8: 3-4)

Out of all God’s creations he truly loves only one.  Us.

Lord,

When I look at your whole creation I am filled with awe at your power,

And comfort in realizing your know and love me.

When I begin to doubt help me to see,

When I begin to fear help me to remember,

When I am faced with challenges create your answers.

Amen

Your are Accepted as Perfect

“Find me not guilty, Lord, according to the righteousness that comes from you.” (Psalm 7: 8)

You may not be perfect but in God’s grace he sees you that way.

Lord,

I have failed so many times, fallen short too often,

Yet, in your grace you judge me righteous,

And in your love your accept me as your own.

   Forgive me for my failures,

Judge me perfect even in my imperfections,

Accept me in your love though I can never earn it.

Amen
